Roy Douglas Walker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on February 24, 2024 surrounded by his family in Lebanon, TN, the town where he was born on December 5, 1947.

Roy’s life was marked by love, dedication, and service to others. He was a proud graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1966, before bravely serving in the United States Air Force. After his military service, Roy worked for TVA before venturing into entrepreneurship alongside his devoted wife, Rhonda. Together, they owned and operated two Servpro franchises for 25 years until their well-deserved retirement in 2016.

Beyond his professional achievements, Roy was deeply committed to his community. He was an ordained Deacon of Round Lick Baptist Church and a dedicated firefighter for the Watertown Volunteer Fire Department. His selflessness and willingness to help others will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

In 1972, Roy married the love of his life, Rhonda Vantrease, of Watertown, TN, and together they shared 51 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their union blessed them with two children, Tasha Irby (Brad) and Scott Walker (Rebecca), and two precious grandchildren, Davis and Annalee Walker, who were the light of his life.

Roy is survived by his brothers Jerry Walker (Opal) and Robert Walker, sister-in-law Barbara Hamilton, and brothers-in-law Terry Vantrease (Bethany) and Ricky Vantrease (Kay). He was also a proud Uncle Roy to many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Eddins, and brother, Henry Walker, and his parents James and Charlotte Walker.

Roy found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing, hunting, and golfing, but perhaps his favorite pastime was spending time on his houseboat at Center Hill Lake, where he found peace, solace, and lifelong friends. Family vacations were also a highlight for Roy, as he cherished creating lasting memories with his loved ones. Roy’s family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished the time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
