It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Richard “Rick” Morgan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Louise Lawrence; his grandmother, Desi (Akin) Wray; his grandfather, Marshall Tabler Wray; his aunts, Georgia Pride and Dorothy Lindsey; his uncles, Lewis Wray and Fate Wray; his beloved wife, Connie Morgan; and his cherished fur children, Sal, Sally Ann, and Jonesy Morgan.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his daughters, April Heather Murray and Hannah Kay Morgan Fry, along with their mother, Sheila Morgan; his sons-in-law, Donathan Murray and Daniel Fry; and his cherished grandchildren, Tabler Murray, Jordan Morgan, Jayden Fry, Jacob Fry, and Nathaniel Tinsley. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Morgan and her husband, Wick Morgan; his nephew, Eric Ventress and wife Cheryl; his cousins, Maxie Pride Jr., Janice Mangrum and children Eddie and Tara, Timothy Hicks, and Tammy Hicks; and his faithful cat, Brando Morgan.
He dedicated many years of service working at the Tennessee School for the Blind, where he made a lasting impact through his compassion and commitment. A man of strong Christian faith, he lived his life guided by love, grace, and a deep belief in serving others. He had a true passion for writing and photography, finding beauty in both words and images. Through his lens and his pen, he captured moments, memories, and emotions that will continue to be treasured.
He had a tender heart for animals and was known for caring for a small army of feral cats, raccoons, opossums, and even skunks—treating them not as pests, but as friends. His compassion, humor, creativity, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in the stories we share, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
A funeral service for Rick will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel officiated by Bro. Barry Mershon with internment to follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Nathanial Tinsley, Jacob Fry, Tabler Murray, Jordan Morgan Fry, Daniel Fry, and Jayden Fry.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pet Community Center at 5233 Harding Pl Suite 5247, Nashville, TN 37217 for feral spay and neuter.
