Mr. Richard Fairchild of Lebanon departed this life with his wife of thirty-one years holding his hand. The 83-year-old Mr. Fairchild and his wife Shannon were both residents of Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where he was pronounced deceased at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday evening October 9, 2024.
Mr. Fairchild was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and was to be cremated at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood. The family will hold no public services.
Born Richard Breece Fairchild in Pine Bluff in Jefferson County, Arkansas on April 16, 1941, he was the youngest of three sons born to the late Breece Finley Fairchild and Velma Louise Lawing Fairchild.
A daughter, Kellie Fairchild Frazier preceded him in death.
Mr. Fairchild was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Chester Fairchild and Bill Fairchild.
Mr. Fairchild was a 1959 graduate of Pine Bluff High School and attended the Mississippi State College.
On March 26, 1993 he was united in marriage to the former Shannon Vinita England.
He retired in 2004 as a restaurant designer for the Valgean Corporation.
In 2014 he and his wife relocated to Lebanon from Jocotopec, Mexico where they had resided following retirement. Mr. Fairchild was of the Episcopalian faith.
Surviving are in addition to his wife Shannon are six children, Michael Fairchild and wife Delynn of Fairbanks, Alaska, James Fairchild of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Marlo Jenkins and husband Tim of Mt. Juliet, Lance Frazier and wife Caitlin of Mentone, Alabama, Jo Shannon Cruz and husband Jose of the Kempville Community, Hutson Frazier and wife Jillian of Alexandria, Virginia; twenty-three grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren.
