Mattie Rubio, age 88 of Lebanon TN, passed away on April 27, 2025. The Funeral Service is 12 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the service at noon.
Mattie Ruth Rubio was born in Lebanon TN to Betty Olene Melton Newman and James DeShay Newman. Mattie married Oscar Rubio and they embarked on a life revolved around each other and their kids. Mattie took great pride in making a wonderful home for her family and providing home-cooked meals three times a day, every day, for them. She was an attentive grandmother and great-grandmother too.
Mrs. Rubio is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Oscar Rubio, son Oscar Rubio Jr., son-in-law Tim Brown, grandchildren Jim Rubio and Alan Watts, parents Olene and Shaye Newman, brother John Newman, and sisters Bobbie Sue Frame and Gail Pelligrino. She is survived by children: Martha “Scooter” Rubio, James (Ann) Rubio, Nina Rubio, Betsy Brown, and Danny (Bonnie) Rubio; grandchildren: Chris Rubio, Blake Brown, Brian Lattman, Angelina Oglesby, Nickolas Rubio, and Bobbi Ortiz; great-grandchildren: Ashley Brown, Erin Dockery, Alexus Brown, Akira Britton, and Brooklyn Jackson; sister: Zelma Jean Solis; several great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
