Mary “Gustie” Armstrong Butler, 93, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in Wilson County, Tennessee, of natural causes.
A native of LaFayette, Kentucky, Gustie was born on March 3rd, 1932, to the late Richard and Ida Mae Wyatt Armstrong. She was the second youngest of twelve siblings and the last surviving sibling of her beloved family.
Gustie was the heart of her family and found great joy in cooking for those she loved. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life and she cherished the blessings she received.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Butler; daughter, Vickie Putty; and brothers Garland, Tom, Harlie, Roy, Troy, and Duke; as well as sisters Dessie, Lila, Lurline, Bettie, and Garvie.
She is survived by her sons: Gary Butler of Hopkinsville, Kentucky;
Hal Butler of Lebanon, Tennessee; Matthew and Luke (Sarah) Butler of Louisville, Kentucky. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Gustie’s love for her family was boundless. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She loved her entire family no matter how far away.
