Carthage native Mr. Mark Allen Pettross passed away in Gallatin, Tennessee on July 6, 2024, after a lengthy illness. He was 64.
Born July 22, 1954 in Lebanon, Tennessee at McFarland Hospital, he was the oldest son of the late Glenn Allen Pettross who died in 2016 and Billie Ramsey Pettross who died in 2014. He was preceded in death by grandparents Vance Lee Pettross, Sr. and Cora Fincannon Pettross of Horseshoe Bend and later Carthage, Tennessee and George Jerome Ramsey and Lena Odelle McKinney Ramsey of Granville and Elmwood, Tennessee.
While working in security operations for the Tennessee Titans, Mr. Pettross had experienced an accidental fall in 2016 which resulted in a concussion and a lengthy period of recovery.
Mr. Pettross was a 1972 graduate of Smith County High School and had attended Volunteer State Community College.
Survivors include: his brothers, Michael Pettross of Nashville, Tennessee and Mitchell Pettross of Nashville, Tennessee; several cousins; and a host of friends.
He was cremated and a private burial for the family was held at Ridgewood Cemetery in the Pettross family burial plots.
The Pettross family has requested memorials to the Carthage United Methodist Church for those who wish to give one.
