Marie Bennett passed away on June 30, 2023 at age 80. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Danny Sellars, is 2 p.m. Wednesday July 5, 2023 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment in Hunter Memorial Park will follow the service. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m.
Thelma Marie Measle Bennett was born in Lebanon TN to Maude Irene Kolbe and Jordan Wilson Measle Sr. She met Joe Bennett and they married in 1972. Marie was a practical joker all of her days and never met a stranger. She enjoyed being with her family, cooking and gardening, and providing a beautiful home. She never passed a yard sale, a moving sale, estate sale, or the mile-long yard sale, because someone in the family always needed a surprise. Marie knew the art of the deal. Word search, Rook and game shows filled a lot of her free time. She was a fearsome Yatzee player with her children. Her grandchildren were the sparkle in her eye and she was very involved with them. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and Blake Shelton.
Marie is survived by children: Sallie (Neil) Turner, Bennie Spurlock, T.J. (Ricky) Mofield, Lewis Bennett, and Brenda Heston; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister: Brenda Faye Thoreson; daughter-in-law: Debra Bennett; sister-in-law: Gail Measle; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Bennett, son Cecil Bennett, daughter-in-law Ruby Spurlock, parents Maude and Jordan Measle, and brother Jordan Wilson Measle Jr.
