Kenneth Ray Smiley Obit

Kenneth Ray Smiley, age 90 of Goodlettsville, TN passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 1, 2025. His family is so thankful for his life and is rejoicing that he is no longer bound by his earthly body. Kenneth’s love for his Savior, Jesus was evident in the many ways he sought to serve others in His name. He had a passion for sharing the life-giving truth of the gospel to all with whom he came in contact.

Kenneth was born on October 19, 1934. He grew up in East Nashville and had very fond memories of being an East High Eagle and working at the Hippodrome Skating Rink. Kenneth and Jean married in 1963, and they were blessed with 59 years together. Kenneth was a doting husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren will always remember fun times with their Daddy Ken. His family will be forever grateful for the spiritual legacy that his precious life has left them.

Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Shelley (Joey) Bassham and Kendra (Rickey) Coleman along with his grandchildren, Joseph Bassham, Jackson Coleman, Addie Coleman and Lanie Coleman, in addition to his beloved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Addie Smiley along with his wife, Jean Smiley and siblings, Edgar Smiley, Carl Smiley, Connie Smiley and Alice Smiley Taylor.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 11th at 12:00 PM from the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Hendersonville with Joey Bassham officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1150 Dickerson Pike in Nashville with Joey Bassham, Rickey Coleman, Joseph Bassham, Jackson Coleman, Michael McLendon and Mitchell Caruthers serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Friday, April 11th from 10:00 AM until time of service.
