Funeral services for Juanita George Ligon, age 80 of Lebanon and formerly of Norene, will be conducted on Sunday July 12, 2026 at 3:00pm at Barton’s Creek Baptist Church in Lebanon. (1530 Barton’s Creek Rd. Lebanon, TN 37090). Bro. Jacob Colwell and Jason Ligon will officiate and interment will follow in Barton’s Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 12, 2026 from 12:00 noon until service time at 3:00pm at Barton’s Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ligon was born January 2, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Claude E. George and Margaret Thenia Cunningham George. She was raised in Norene and grew up attending Fall Creek Baptist Church where, as a young girl, she made her profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized by Bro. Carl Price. Later in life, she united with the Barton’s Creek Baptist Church in Lebanon where she remained a faithful member until her passing. Mrs. Ligon was a 1964 graduate of Watertown High School, and was elected homecoming queen her junior year of high school. Having been taught the importance of hard work, she immediately began working for the City of Lebanon. She worked in numerous roles in her 45 plus year career, making her the longest serving employee in the City. Juanita retired in 2025. She often remarked that she loved her “City family” as much as her own blood relatives. Juanita was a quiet gentle lady, always smiling, always loving on someone. Her love for her friends and family are immeasurable. She even loved her “grand-dogs” and spoiled them whenever she had a chance. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was always at every function, every event, every special occasion to show her support and affection. Juanita will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children; Randall Ligon, brother; Buddy George of Norene, and brother-in-law Clayton Barrett of Norene.

She leaves behind her children; Scott (Kelli) Ligon of Thompson’s Station and Tonya (Larry) Jones of Lebanon, grandchildren; Kate (Michael) Speruta, Wyatt Jones, Ava Jones, and Jacob Ligon, sister; Marie Barrett of Norene, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.

Pallbearers will be: Wyatt Jones, Jacob Ligon, Brett Barrett, Brian Barrett, Michael Speruta, and Shaun Patterson.

The City of Lebanon Employees are requested to be Honorary Pallbearers.
