Joseph Patrick McMahon, age 28, of Lebanon, Tennessee passed away on Saturday,  September 23, 2023.

Joe was raised in the Catholic church but was currently attending Cross Point Church in Mt. Juliet.

He was a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School’s Class of 2013, where he was a dedicated Bears football player and earned the Special Teams Player award 2 years in a row. Joe’s football career carried on after graduation as he attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Joe was also a talented craftsman and woodworker, and applied those skills to build his own business, Blarney Stone Countertops, LLC.

A proud uncle, Joe created lasting joy in his niece and nephew’s lives, teaching Heidi and Logan how to play basketball or being their favorite person to pick them up at the bus stop after school.

He consistently brought laughter and kindness to his friends and family, and embraced adventure that deepened his connection to loved ones around him, including many happy trips to Disney. He also recently took a trip to the East Coast to meet distant relatives and learn about his family roots.

Joe was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time outdoors through activities like kayaking.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Allen VanBergen, Rose Ella VanBergen and John Joseph McMahon.

He is survived by:

Mother – Rosemary VanBergen McMahon
Sister – Carly (Steven) Carlton
Grandmother – Mary Margaret McMahon
Niece – Heidi Rose Carlton
Nephew – Logan Grey Carlton
Many aunts, uncles and cousins

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at St. Stephen Catholic Community, 14544 Lebanon Road, Old Hickory, TN with a brief visitation at 10 a.m. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2023 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service time on Tuesday at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Mt. Juliet Football or the Willoughby Waves. Donate to Mt. Juliet Football by writing a check to “Mt.     He seemed to be building a great future for himself! 28 yrs old is way too young…
    I wonder what happened…
