John Paul Simmons, age 86 of Lebanon, formerly of Beulah, Kentucky passed away on April 20, 2026. He is preceded in death by parents, Egbert and Nona Simmons; son, John Kevin Simmons; three brothers, Doyce Simmons, Artie Simmons and Billy Simmons; four sisters, Mary Helen Watts, Shirley Myatt, Marcella Moore and Guynell Fay.
He is survived by wife of 66 years, Ruby Simmons; daughter, Pam (John) Hogancamp; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Davis, Audrey (Jefferson) Harrington, Aaron (Keri) Hogancamp, Joshua (Tessily) Hogancamp, Makayla Spalding and eight loving great grandchildren; sisters, Girlene (Eugene) Murphy, Susie (Ben) Gargus and brother, Sammy (Marion) Simmons.
John was a 1958 graduate from Fulgham High School in Kentucky. He lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to his family. He married his high school sweetheart, and to his family, he was lovingly known as “Papu.”
He was saved and became a Christian when he was 25 years old. While being a member of Beulah Baptist Church, he served as a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer, and later worked as a door greeter and janitor at Immanuel Baptist Church.
John retired from General Tire in Mayfield, Kentucky after 32 years of service and also served eight years in the Army National Guard.
He enjoyed farming, caring for his cows, and mowing the yard. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation for John will be held Thursday, April 23rd at the Partlow Funeral Chapel from 4 p.m to 7 p.m with a graveside service in Beulah, Kentucky to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or The Gideons International.
