John Michael Teeples, 87, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026 surrounded by family. Born on October 11, 1938, in St. Paul, Minnesota, John was married for 63 years to his wife, Judy. Together, they made their home in Atlanta, where they raised their family. In retirement, they settled in Tellico Village in Loudon, Tennessee, building a full life filled with friends, family, and adventure. In the past year, they moved to Mount Juliet to be closer to family.
John was the Southeast Regional Operations Manager for 3M, a role that suited him well. He was a natural planner who took pride in doing things thoughtfully and with care. John always had a well-researched plan, whether mapping out a trip or managing the details of everyday life. After 33 years at 3M, he retired and transitioned into a rich life filled with travel across the country and around the world with his wife and family.
He loved sports and rarely missed the chance to watch a game, especially cheering on Notre Dame, Auburn, Alabama and the University of Tennessee. Golf was one of his great joys. Over the years, he had the opportunity to play some of the country’s most iconic courses, including Augusta and Pebble Beach. He built lasting connections with friends, children, cousins, grandchildren, and neighbors through regular weekly golf outings.
John was a good-spirited man who genuinely enjoyed being with others. A natural host, he made sure everyone who entered his home felt welcome, comfortable, and well-fed. He loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren, who adored him and cherished his many favorite sayings. After a well-cooked meal prepared by his wife and shared with family, he would often declare it was “Mighty Fine,” a phrase that brought smiles and laughter around the table.
John is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, John (Melissa) Teeples, Anna (Jack) Teeples, and Angie (Mick) Connors; and his grandchildren, Josh (Courtney) Early and their son, Bowden; Sam Teeples; Sarah Connors; Emma Teeples; Jack (Clare) Connors and their son, Cillian; Charlie Connors; Mimi Connors; Charlie Teeples; and Will Teeples. He was preceded in death by his son, Lamont Teeples. He will be remembered for his warmth, his hospitality, his love of family, and the care he took in all things, big and small.
A family service was held in Mt Juilet at St Stephen Catholic Church. In honor of John’s love of nature and the outdoors, donations may be made to the National Parks Foundation or the National Audubon Society.
