John Clayton Barrett, age 84, of the Norene Community, passed away on Wednesday morning, Sept. 27, 2023 at his residence.
Born Dec. 23, 1938 in Murfreesboro, he was the son of the late John Howard Barrett and Ollie Mae Rowland Barrett and was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Barrett and sister, Carolyn Love.
He was a graduate of Walter Hill High School, a US Army veteran and a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. Clayton retired as a route salesman for Colonial Bread Company and a farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie George Barrett; children, Janet Hancock (Ken), Brian Barrett (Heather), Brett Barrett (Tracey), Stacey Hackett (Phillip); grandchildren, Zack Barrett, Parker Barrett, Kendra Hackett, Presley Hackett, Payton Hackett, Blake Wilkerson, Holly Luckett; sister, Jeannie Anderson; sister-in-law, Juanita Ligon and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023 at Hunter Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday and Noon till service time on Saturday.
