Janice Gammon Obit

Mrs. Janice Gammon, age 79 of Orlinda, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on December 26, 2025. She was married to her devoted husband, Bobby Gammon, for 59 years. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.

For more than four decades, Jan helped make a home on the family dairy farm, where she worked tirelessly as an active farmhand and milkmaid. She ensured that family members and farmhands alike were always well fed, and her hard work, dedication, and care for others defined those years until her retirement.

Deeply committed to public service, Jan was instrumental in helping establish the Republican Party in Robertson County. She served as State Executive Committee Woman for the 18th Senatorial District, was a member of the Board of Professional Responsibility for the State of Tennessee, and served twelve years as a Robertson County Commissioner. Most recently, she was honored at the Reagan Day Dinner in Robertson County, an event she helped establish.

If you knew Jan, you never had to guess her opinion, she was always happy to share it. Many politicians considering a run for office were encouraged to sit at Jan’s table, knowing they would receive honest counsel, encouragement, and wisdom shaped by years of experience and conviction.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Jan faithfully served at multiple Baptist churches throughout her life, most recently Station Camp Baptist Church. She played an important role in helping many people in their walk with the Lord, offering guidance, encouragement, and prayer.

In her personal life, Jan found great joy in gardening, canning, and cooking. She was known for her generous spirit and her love of sharing meals with others. Above all, she loved her family deeply, and her legacy of faith, service, and devotion will continue through them and the many lives she touched.

Jan will be remembered with gratitude, admiration, and love by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Margie Hitson.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Gammon; children, Robert Keith Gammon, Sherri (David) Ferguson, and Steven (Shonda) Gammon; grandchildren, Chelsea (Rusty) Fuqua, Alex (Heather) Ferguson, Brett (Katie) Ferguson, Katie (Drew) Green, Ginia Gammon, Chase Gammon, and Cooper Gammon; great-grandchildren, Gracey, Gabi, Dawson, Demi, Ridge, Sawyer, Andrew, and Thomas; sisters, Yvonne Beaver and Patricia Owens; daughter-in-law, Trena Gammon.
