Ms. Janelyn Stewart Knowles, age 66 of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday December 2, 2025 at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, after a long battle with cancer. Janelyn was born in Lebanon July 13, 1959, to the late Charles Daniel “Dan” Stewart and Bettye Faye Jones Stewart. She graduated in 1977 from Lebanon High School and went on to study at Belmont University, where she graduated in 1979 with a degree in Nursing. Janelyn went to work in Lebanon at the McFarland Hospital as a pediatric nurse. She relocated upon completion of University Medical Center, and continued to care for patients until she retired in 2018 as Director of the McFarland Hospital Rehab Facility. Janelyn was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In addition to her parents, she is reunited in heaven with her brother, Danny Stewart; as well as Johnny Knowles, the father of her three children.
She is survived by her three children, John (Kristen) Knowles, Stewart (Madelyn) Knowles, and Rebecca (Brent) Lineberry; grandchildren, Mylee, Thomas, Abrye, Connor, Reese, Andie Blair, Cora, John Patton, and Leta Bea; brother, Teddy (Laurie) Stewart; sister, Dana Stewart; sister-in-law, Diane Stewart; best friend, collegue, & caregiver, Kay Buckler, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and special cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday December 6, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at Immanuel Baptist Church (214 Castle Heights Ave. Lebanon, TN). Bro. Jeff Pratt will officiate and interment will follow in the Stewart Privilege of the LaGuardo Cemetery. Visitation with the Knowles family will be on Saturday, from 10:00AM until service time at 12:00 Noon at Immanuel Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be: Chuck, Luke, Andy, and Noah Stewart, Thomas Daniel Knowles, and Connor Scott. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church building fund project “4G2C”. At the request of the family, the public is encouraged to wear bright colors, to help celebrate her life. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Brenda McFarlin for her life-long friendship and loving care; also, to Dr. Schleicher at TN Oncology, and Victoria Harrison and the staff of The Pavilion Senior Living for their care and support during such a difficult season.
