James F. “Fred” Price, III, age 71, of Lebanon, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
Fred was born in Oakland, CA and was the son of the late, Jim and Marion Price.
He grew up in La Puente, CA where he excelled in football and wrestling. After graduating from Nogales High School, Fred was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972. He served as a military policeman in Seoul, South Korea and Yuma, AZ.
Upon completion of his military service, Fred enrolled at Mount San Antonio Junior College in San Dimas, CA. This is where he met the love of his life, Patricia. They were married in 1975 and had their only child, Jennifer in 1978. Fred joined the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department where he served proudly and with distinction. His career included time in the jail, transportation, on patrol, as a K9 handler, aviation, narcotics, and on the federal drug task force. He finished his career as a sergeant at Victoria Gardens.
After retirement Fred was too busy for golfing or fishing; instead, he was being a friend to everyone – from helping complete strangers to helping his family, friends and volunteering at church.
Fred never met a stranger. If he met you for the first time, you were a friend not an acquaintance. Fred loved everyone, even his enemies and everyone loved Fred. He also helped everyone – never turning anyone down. He never said No. He was always doing whatever was needed or asked of him.
He is survived by:
Wife – Patricia Rorick Price
Daughter – Jennifer Price (Chris) Slamer
Wonderful granddaughters – Katie Slamer and Heather Slamer
Brother – George (Nancy) Price
