Hasper Ralph “H.R.” Carey, age 102 of Lebanon passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
He is preceded in death by parents, James and Etta Carey; wife of 69 years, Gladys Carey; brother, Haskell Carey and sister, Joyce Williams.
Mr. Carey is survived by children, Randy (Janet) Carey of Lebanon, Renae (L.T.) Hudson of Mt. Juliet, Brenda C. Hicks of Lebanon and Sandra K. Phillips of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Laura Phillips, Chris Phillips, James Phillips of GA, Tommy Hicks, Waylon Carey, Dean Carey, Laura Carey, Shayne Hudson, Melody Bowling, and Hope Hudson; great grandchildren, Miranda Jones, Michaela Barth, Hunter Hicks, Cody Hicks, Tyler Sevier, Stefon Auten, McKenzie Auten, Julien Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Courtney Phillips, Hailey Phillips, Beau Carey, Kadance Bowling, Harmony Bowling, Elisha Chapman, and Jayce Hudson; great great grandchildren, Braylie Jones, Ellie Rose Jones, Madelyn Faith Jones, and Sierra Grace Barth; brothers, Cliff (Janet) Carey and Cancel (Shirley) Carey; sisters, Eva (Joe) Tomlinson and Ilene Ash; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
He was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of Adams Avenue Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and was a good example who led many to Christ. He was an entrepreneur, farmer, milk man, owned and operated Carey’s Grocery, and worked for TRW for 25 years.
Mr. Carey was an Atlanta Braves fan and loved to fish, hunt, garden, and build bird houses. In his later years he became the king of garage sales. He enjoyed talking to his friends and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held at Partlow Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. Bro Bill Hayes and Bro. Joe Tomlinson will officiate the services. Interment with military honors will follow in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Adams Avenue Church of Christ Benevolence Fund.
