It is with profound sadness to announce the sudden passing of George J Haytko, on March 26, 2025 in Nashville. Born in 1945 in New York, George grew up in Iselin, NJ and graduated from Rutgers University with both an undergraduate and graduate degree in Business and developed a passion for accounting.
His relentless pursuit of knowledge was a quality that would serve him well in his career. Upon graduation, George enlisted in Army Reserve and served his country as a drill sergeant in Fort Knox, KY. He began his career as a CPA for a big four accounting firm, demonstrating exceptional dedication and skill.
Over the years, he made significant contributions to accounting and earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike. Notably, George was recognized with a Cover and dedicated article in CFO magazine, a testament to his outstanding achievements and unwavering commitment.
He was currently working as a contracting CFO for a major accounting firm in Nashville. He described himself as a “Financial Mechanic” who fixed financial issues.
George is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara Hatton Haytko, sister Janet Haytko Brooks, brother Charles Haytko, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brother Peter N. Haytko Jr.
Aside from his professional pursuits, George had a passion for golf. On any given weekend he could be found on the golf course or watching the PGA tournament on TV.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Neuro ICU at Vanderbilt University in Nashville reflecting George’s lifelong dedication to helping others.
Rest in peace, George, you will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
