Alfred Gene Taylor age 89 of Statesville, died Friday morning, May 16, 2025 at his residence. Born June 15, 1935 in Dekalb County, he was the son of the late Willie and Opal Foster Taylor and was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.
Gene was a cattle and tobacco farmer in the Statesville community and a member of Smith Fork Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Charles Barrett Taylor; daughter, Debbie Bush and her husband, Jerry; son, Marty Taylor and his wife, Tamara; grandchildren, Kelly (James) Perry, Kevin (Magen) Bush, Austin Taylor; great grandchildren, Kayla Hamlet and Allison Bush; step great grandchild, Kayden Gingerich; brother, Donald (Debbie) Taylor and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Smith Fork Baptist Church. Visitation will be at the church from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. till service time on Sunday. Pallbearers, Jack Armstrong, Ronnie Taylor, Wayne Taylor, Duke Aylor, Bill Freeman, Matthew Hamlet. Interment will be at Jennings Cemetery.
