Edward Ira “Eddie” Fitzpatrick, age 63, of Lebanon, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
He was preceded in death by parents, James Edward and Mary Lou Fitzpatrick.
Eddie is survived by wife of 42 years, Sherry Bennett Fitzpatrick; brother Scotty (Leslie) Fitzpatrick; brother-in-law, Kenneth (fiancé, Alice Givens) Bennett; fur babies, Nitro and Three; nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
He was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church and a 1978 graduate of Gordonsville High School. Upon completion of high school he attended the police academy and became a police officer. He worked in Alexandria, South Carthage and Smithville. He was employed with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department for 32 years, serving the last 20 years as a lieutenant.
Eddie loved fishing, duck hunting, playing cards and golfing. He was an umpire at Tuckers Cross Roads for 25 years.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Christian Life Chapel, 105 Holloway Dr., Lebanon from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. The Funeral Service was on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 1 p.m. with visitation from 11 a.m. until the service. Bro. Gary Wedgewood and Bro. Jimmy Gray will officiate and interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers, Chris Higgins, Robert Locke, Aaron Elmore, Anthony Gray, Brandon Smith, Timmy Bennett, Gary Holland, and Jerod McFarland.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department.
In lieu of the flowers, the family request contributions be made to Good Hope Methodist Church in Eddie’s memory, c/o Vicki Smith, 1715 Orchard Dr., Lebanon, TN 37087.
