Ed “Pa” Baines passed away on December 18, 2023 at age 95.
James Edward Baines was born in Statesville TN to Ella J. McMillin and Harrison B. Baines.
He served in the United States Army. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a Mason. He was at church every time the doors were open but also enjoyed being with his church family outside of church times. Mr. Baines was a butcher for more than 40 years, working for many grocery stores, including Mosier’s Piggly Wiggly. He loved traveling to casinos, especially Tunica.
Mr. Baines is survived by his daughter Jamie (Bill) Apple; grandchildren: Kirsten (Chris) Brandenburg, Lee (Sarah Lipinski) Apple, Evan Redic, Kyla (Nate) Gibson; great-grandchildren: Shelby, Emily, and Kennedy Brandenburg, Walker and Addy Gibson, and Emily and Sadie Reece; siblings: Finis Baines, Betty Jean Reasonover, and Mary Jo Howell.
He is preceded in death by his wife Judy Baines, daughter in 1954, Leanna Jo Baines, parents Ella and Harrison Baines, brothers Grady, Albert, J.W., Herman, James, and Roy Baines, and sister Francis White.
The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Terry Carver of Calvary Baptist Church, is at 4 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from noon until the service at 4 p.m.
