Douglas E. Hagood was the son of John E. Hagood and Minnie White Hagood. Born on March 1, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 16, 2025.
Doug was proceeded in death by his father and mother and his only sibling, Wayne W. Hagood.
Doug served in the Army Reserves in the Military Police before joining The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department in July of 1973 and then became completely disabled in December 1973 from an On Duty car accident. He returned to MNPD in 1988 as a dispatcher and then resigned in 1989. He then went to work at the V. A. Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN, after going back to college and receiving a master’s degree, as a Social Worker to help other paralyzed Veterans.
Doug was a lover of animals, especially cats and dogs.
He leaves behind his friend of 53 years, since Rookie School and then served as partners on the MNPD, Teddy Richardson, his wife and their three children who Doug was their Godfather.
He also leaves his friend and neighbor, Diane Taylor, who was his caregiver the last few years. Doug often said that she was a “God Send” to him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
