Dorothy Elizabeth Wright Elkins, 87, was born on Wednesday, February 2nd, 1938, in Nashville, Tennessee, and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025.
The Funeral Service, conducted by Chaplain Hubert Cunningham, will be held in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet on Wednesday, June 4th, 2025, at 02:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 3rd from 04:00 p.m. – 08:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 4th from 01:00 p.m. until service time at 02:00 p.m.
She was preceded in death by parents, Theodore Vincent and Nellie Price Wright; siblings, Milton Wright, Freida Smith, and Berma Wright.
She is survived by children, Teresa (Bubba) Terry, Ray (Dorothy) Smith, Dwayne (Beth) Smith, and Tanya Horton; grandchildren, Anthony (Sarah) Smith, Austin (Katie) Smith, Missy (Eric) Smith, Whitney (Alex) Jackson, Marcus (Daniele) McCauley, Michael (Ashlee) McCauley, and Brittany (Andy) Carey; brother, Milo (Deborah) Wright; 17 great-grandchildren also survive.
Ms. Elkins was a respected and cherished mother, grandmother, and friend to countless people. She had many talents and hobbies ranging from handmaking Raggedy Ann dolls to crocheting and dressing up for any event. Her biggest passion of all was ensuring her family was taken care of, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being a “Granny” to them was the greatest joy of all.
