Dorothy Edmonson Heine, age 93, of Birmingham, AL went home to Heaven on September 3, 2025. After many visits with Jesus in her room and Jesus asking her to come she went with Him on that Wednesday afternoon.
“Dot” was born April 18, 1932. She is preceded in death by her Husband, John Heine Sr., her Parents, Bertie and John Edmonson and her brother, John Harris Edmonson, all of Birmingham, AL.
Dot was a wonderful Daughter, Sister, devoted Wife, loving Mother, loving Grandmother, Aunt and a cherished Friend to those who knew her, her favorite role being Grandmother. Dot had a childlike faith and loved all unconditionally. She always saw the good in others and had a supernatural peace about her. She was humble, never boastful-she taught us all so much and is greatly missed. In her youth she was a wonderful pianist. She was an avid reader and loved words in general. She started each day reading her Bible, digging in to The Word. She was soft spoken, kind and gentle. She was a wonderful listener and was full of wisdom. She no doubt heard the words “Well done, Good and Faithful Servant” as she entered heaven, we look forward to seeing her again.
Dot is survived by her six children, John Heine Jr., Birmingham, AL, Don Heine, Charleston, SC, Mary Gingold(David), Mt. Juliet, TN, Bill Heine(Karyn), Frisco, TX, Kathryn Howard, Huntsville, AL and Melanie Gross(John III), Birmingham, AL. She leaves nine grandchildren, Gregory, John and Ben Howard, Huntsville, AL, Emily Kauchak(Kevin), Ooltewah, TN, Will and Kaely Heine, Frisco, TX, John Gross IV(Lauren), Austin, TX, Ansley Gross, Birmingham, AL and Evans Gross, New York, New York and six great grandchildren, Camden and Beckham Heine, Kingston and Harper Kauchak, Bailey and Chloe Howard and her brother Doug Edmonson(Judy).
We want to give a special thank you to Curt and Cynthia from Compassus Hospice who helped walk our Mother home to Heaven. A graveside was held September 6, 2025 officiated by Pastor Steve Blair of Church of the Highlands.
