Donald Foster Hughes age 78, entered the presence of Jesus on Friday morning, April 5, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helen Briggs Hughes on May 5, 2021.
Born June 6, 1945 in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late Edward Foster Hughes and Myrtle Askew Hughes.
Donald was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Korea from 1965-1967. He was a graduate of Tennessee Temple Bible College in Chattanooga, TN and served the Lord as a missionary with Baptist International Missions, Inc. Donald and his wife did mission work in several foreign countries, including South Korea, Guam, Saipan and England. He served as pastor of several churches, retiring from a church in Binghamton, NY when he and his wife moved to Watertown to be with their daughter and her family.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Amy (Jeff) Murray of Watertown, Julie (Steve) Whalen of New Paris, OH and Tammy (Brian) Pulsifer of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Anna Pulsifer, Sydney and Sophia Whalen and Eli Murray; his sister, Frances Birkhead of Hendersonville, NC and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Edward Hughes.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Chad Pinion and Dr. James Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till service time Wednesday. Interment will follow at Hunter Memorial Park in Watertown. https://www.hunterfuneral.com
