Deborah (Davis) Dorsey, 71, of Mt. Juliet took her last bow on Sunday, March 22nd. She was a walking contradiction in the best possible way. She had a heart so big it had its own zip code—she’d give you the shirt off her back, though she’d probably give you a lecture on how to fold it properly first. She protected her “inner circle” with a loyalty that was as permanent as a tattoo. If she loved you, you knew it. If she didn’t… well, you probably knew that, too.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alexandra Dorsey & Matt Smith, her brother and sister-in-law Chuck & Beth Davis, her sister Terry Davis, and her bonus grandchildren, Keagan Smith and Landon Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and a zoo of fur babies who were undoubtedly waiting at the gates with wagging tails and loud meows. We suspect she’s already busy organizing them and making sure everyone has been fed on schedule.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. We will be raising an Amaretto Sour in her honor—just like her, it’s a little bit sweet, a little bit tart, and best enjoyed with a side of blunt honesty.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in her honor to the Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter or to Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary. She would have much preferred that the money go to a pup in need than a bouquet that doesn’t bark.
