The long and vivacious life of Darlene Calistri came to an earthly end on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024. She slipped away peacefully in Hermitage, Tennessee.
Darlene Patricia Suchecki was born on Monday, January 20th, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois, unto the union of the late Stefan Martin and Lillian Smolen Suchecki. The twin sister of Diane.
Darlene’s life was filled with dreams, fearless love, fun, humor, music, dancing, family, friends, and a lot of red wine! Her twin sister was her best friend and they talked every single day, never missing a beat despite being in two different states.
Without fail, every Halloween she would fully dress up in her mustard costume and listen to music on the front porch while handing out treats to all that came by. New Year’s Eve was her favorite holiday and she lived to be the first one to wish you “Happy New Year’s”, even if it meant waking you up. Darlene adored dressing to the nines, every day, even if she wasn’t going anywhere and sparkled to the very end.
Mrs. Calistri was proud of her Polish heritage and was a dual citizen in the United States and in Italy. She was a Registered Nurse for many years and everybody was her patient. Her love for St. Jude Children’s Hospital ran deep. She advocated and donated any chance she got.
She is survived by children, Juliana (fiancé, Bruce Lantz) Calistri and Adamo (Kelly) Calistri; grandchildren, Lucca Calistri, Braelyn Moses, and Vincent Calistri; twin sister, Diane (Hal) Jennings; nephew, Michael (Elizabeth) Jennings. She also leaves behind her four-legged companion, Baci, whom was her world.
In honor of Darlene, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105. https://www.stjude.org/
Please feel free to leave your condolences on the website to share with Mrs. Calistri’s family.
