Cornelis-Booysen

Cornelis Booysen was born December 6, 1967 to parents Cornelis Johannes Booysen and Wilma Booysen in Klerksdorp, South Africa. Corneel lost his life in a tragic accident on Friday, July 7, 2023.

His childhood was spent in Pretoria with a deep love for books, lust for knowledge, and love of the outdoors all starting at an early age.

After graduating from Silverton High School he joined the police force as an I.T. analyst. He was wed to his children’s mother Martha Smit in 1992 and became a father in 1997 with the birth of his first son, Michael Cornelis. His second child, a daughter, was born in 1998, Maroné Marieta. His third child and second son was born in 2000, Marcel Jan. After leaving the police force he worked for IBM as an I.T. analyst.

In 2002 his family immigrated to the United States, settling in the Tampa Bay area. His love and strength carried his family through the difficult first years as immigrants.

He served as a mentor for good in his community and his love of written text and thirst for understanding continued. In 2009 his family moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he worked for Winn-Dixie as an Enterprise Architect. In 2011 his autobiographical book, The Sphere, was published in which he recounts his experiences in the first years as an immigrant. In 2013 he accepted a position at Ingram Publishing as Director of Enterprise Architecture and his family moved to Nolensville, Tennessee. In 2017, after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Game Programming and Development, he founded his company, Augmented Enterprises and began work for HealthTrust as Director of Solutions Architecture.

In 2019 he met his life partner and soul mate, Charity Ingersoll and her children, Addison Marie, Anneliese Elizabeth, and Lucas Michael, whom he affectionately called his bonus babies. He was a man of passion and compassion, strength and tenderness; from whom love flowed constantly and with ease.

He is survived by his partner Charity Ingersoll, his three children and their mother, Martha Booysen, his three bonus children, his older sister Natalie van der Linde and her three children Marco, Leandri, and Nicolene, his stepmother Christa Booysen Giles and her three children Waldo, Nicolene, and Natasha, and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

A man among men, lost far too soon, remembered with love.
