Clell Warren Tompkins, 83, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, peacefully left this earthly life on Friday, November 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. With a heart full of faith, he was ready to enter into eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Clell was a true reflection of Christ’s love, evident in the way he showed up in every role he held—husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He brought his love, compassion, kindness, and curiosity into every relationship, touching the lives of all who knew him.

Clell was born on October 19, 1941, in Oneida, Tennessee, to Willis and Ola Ellis Tompkins. He graduated from Alvin C. York Institute in 1960 and went on to pursue higher education at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology.

Clell exhibited unwavering commitment to both his faith and his family. For more than twenty years, he was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church, demonstrating the same level of dedication in every congregation he joined throughout his life. His service to the church was multifaceted, encompassing roles such as deacon, President of his Sunday School Class, and mentor, and handyman for whatever was needed. Additionally, he was a valued member of the choir and held a profound appreciation for the sacred music that enriched the church experience.

As a passionate carpenter, Clell contributed his skills to the church’s carpentry needs and maintained a small workshop in his garage, where he undertook numerous projects for home, church, friends and family. Many of the most treasured gifts his family received were those meticulously crafted by his own hands.

From a powerful interest for innovation and technology, Clell was driven by a desire to solve problems and generate new ideas. With his degree, he held various positions throughout his 41-year career in the manufacturing workplace, including roles in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Engineering Management. Eventually, he went on to successfully lead two different companies as a Plant Manager and then, Director of Manufacturing.

Clell is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Joan; his two sons, Kevin Tompkins (Jill) and Greg Tompkins (Amanda); his grandchildren, Chelsey Moïse (Taylor), Carter Tompkins (Jessica), Zachary Tompkins, Drew Tompkins, and Cameron Tompkins (Ashley); and his great-grandchildren, Haven Tompkins and Lincoln Tompkins. He is also survived by his siblings, Charlotte Tompkins (Daryl), Gail Horner, Roger Tompkins (Teresa), and Sheila Crouch, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Clell was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Ola, and his sister Sherlyn.
