Cheryl Thurman, age 61, of Lebanon, passed away on March 31, 2026. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
Cheryl Sue Hayes Thurman was born in Muscatine IA as one of three children to Barbara Carolyn Floyd Hayes and Donald Gary Hayes. She met her husband Richard when they worked together at Home Depot in Texas. Cheryl always said she went into Home Depot to get a 2×4 and walked out with a stud! They had two children together and remained happily married until he passed in 2022.
Cheryl loved all things magic. She enjoyed baking and crafting, and was so passionate about cruises that she would have lived on a ship if the family allowed her to. Reading was something she enjoyed doing, especially the Harry Potter series, which was her favorite. She worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for more than 10 years before joining the mail dept at HCA.
Cheryl is survived by children Daniel Thurman and Grace Thurman, brother John (Lori) Hayes, sister-in-law Leona Hayes, and nieces and nephews Ashley Hayes, Johnathan David, Nick Hayes, and Gary Hayes III, and fur babies Snickers and Eight. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Richard Thurman, parents Barb and Gary Hayes, stepdad Wayne Collett, aunt Evelyn Floyd Decker, and brother Gary Hayes II.
