Betsy L. Buhler, 67, of Bulverde, Texas, entered the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 14, 1959, in Wilson County, Tennessee, Betsy was the daughter of the late Robert Earl Buhler and Ella Lorraine Hobbs Buhler. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Diana Buhler, and her brothers, Andrew Buhler and Bob Buhler.
She is survived by her brother, Alex (Charlene) Buhler; her sisters, Janie (Roger) Ray, Julia Buhler, and Anne (Victor) Tuck; her sisters-in-law, Betty Buhler and Connie Buhler; her beloved Mama Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
To know Betsy was to experience the love of Christ through her life. Even during her battle with cancer, her focus remained on serving others. She had a remarkable gift for making every person feel valued, treating everyone with kindness, compassion, and dignity. Her greatest joy was sharing Jesus and the hope of the Gospel as she lived with humility, grace, and unwavering faith. Above all, she loved her family deeply.
Affectionately known as “Chappy B,” Betsy dedicated her life to ministry and caring for others. More than 25 years ago, she founded the Communications Ministry at Community Bible Church in San Antonio, faithfully serving on staff for over two decades and mentoring many who now serve in church leadership across the country, a lasting testimony to her investment in others. Betsy also served as a chaplain with the San Antonio Police Department and the former WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars, faithfully ministering to countless first responders, civic leaders, and community members. She often said, “I want to go where Jesus would go and be the hands and feet of Jesus.” Those words were not simply her motto; they were the way she lived each day, inspiring countless others to love more deeply, serve more faithfully, and follow Christ more closely.
Her passion for serving others led her to establish reFocus Today Ministries, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting first responders and their families through crisis care, pastoral support, hospital visitation, counseling, and funeral ministry. Her legacy of Christ like love and selfless service will continue to impact lives for generations.
A celebration of Betsy’s life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Crossroads Church, 300 North Maple Street, Lebanon, Tennessee, with Pastor Randy Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until service at Crossroads Church. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be officers of the San Antonio Police Department.
Though Betsy will be deeply missed, her family rejoices knowing she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her greatest desire was that others would know Jesus, and her life remains a testimony to His love, grace, and faithfulness.
