AnnMarie (Annie) Ruth Newton, age 32, of Lebanon, TN, passed away on August 24, 2024.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she was the cherished daughter of Larry and Ruth Downs. Annie was a lifelong animal lover with a heart full of compassion
As a Development Manager at Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, she was deeply loved by the staff, volunteers, and the many dogs whose lives she touched. Annie’s commitment to her work and the sanctuary was unwavering.
In her free time, Annie found joy in creating and painting pottery, exploring the great outdoors, and immersing herself in music festivals, and road trips across America. She had a passion for supporting aspiring artists and local businesses, often volunteering both at home and abroad.
Annie is survived by her loving husband, Adam Newton, and her three stepchildren, Ava Newton, Garrett Newton, and Grady Newton. She also leaves behind her parents, Larry and Ruth Downs; grandmothers, Johnny Wedertz and Sharon Downs; sisters, Tatiana Downs and Briana Roman; and brothers, Shane Downs and David Downs. Annie was also a devoted mom to her four dogs, eight chickens, two tortoises, two sugar gliders, and a hive of about 30,000 bees.
Annie’s vibrant spirit and unwavering love for animals and people alike will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Capitol Theater at 110 W. Main Street, Lebanon, TN 37087.
