Allyson "Al" Forkum Obit

Allyson “Al” Spivey Forkum-age 97 of Nashville passed away April 25, 2025 at Quality Center for Rehabilitation and Healing. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Wavell Stewart, will be held in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN, on Monday April 28, 2025 at 1 p.m., with visitation from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service, with family and friends to serve as pallbearers.

Allyson grew up in Jackson County, graduating from Jackson County High School where she was a star basketball player earning the nickname of Timber. She left home at the age of 18, moved to Nashville to attend and graduated from Nashville Business College. She lived at the YWCA, continued to play basketball for Washington Manufacturing Company where she also worked. She went to work at Guaranty Mortgage Company where she worked for 35 years, later working for First American Bank before retiring. She was a member of Crieve Hall Church of Christ.

Al was preceded in death by her parents Eston and Versie Moss Spivey, husband Raggio “Joe” Forkum.

Brothers: Raymond, Ralph and James Spivey. Sisters: Alma Bauer, Thelma Meadows and Joanne Spivey (infant). She is survived by sister-in-law Mary Spivey, nieces Pat Knowles, Nancy Meadows, Glenda Hammock. Nephews Keith Spivey, Larry Meadows and James Spivey, numerous great nieces and nephews, and special friends who are more like family, Peggy Tackett and Deborah Fixel.

To know Al was to love her. She always had a story to tell, that always ended in a good laugh. She had a great sense of humor. She never met a stranger and always found a way to connect to that person. Her greatest joys in life was living life to the fullest and making people smile. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
