Former Mayor Jenny Bess Hibbett has passed away.

Hibbett, the third Mayor in the City of Mt. Juliet’s history and first female Mayor, gave her life to Mt. Juliet and along with her family shaped the direction of the community for generations.

She will leave behind a legacy of a servant leader, teaching at Mt. Juliet Elementary and Mt. Juliet Christian, but her impact wasn’t contained within the school walls. Those that knew her, would describe her as a mother who nurtured our community, a true matriarch of Mt. Juliet.

Funeral Arrangements:
Tuesday: Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church

Wednesday: Visitation 9 to 10 a.m. with service to follow at Victory Baptist Church
Burial will take place at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the MJ, Harvey Freeman, Public Library or the Mt. Juliet Christian Academy Library.

  1. Wilson County and Mt. Juliet should do everything they can to name the next school after this family. Jenny Bess & NC Hibbett were wonderful servants leaders for mt. Juliet.
