A man believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis was taken into custody Friday morning after a series of incidents that began at a local hospital and ended nearby.

Lebanon Police and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office responded around 7:15 a.m. to Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital after the man reportedly pulled a fire alarm and left the facility.

Authorities say the individual was later seen in the area of a Kroger parking lot, where he allegedly attempted to carjack a delivery driver. He then tried a second carjacking across the street, targeting a vehicle waiting at a traffic light near the Ulta parking lot.

Deputies witnessed the second incident as it was unfolding and quickly intervened, taking the man into custody without further escalation.
