December 13, 2023 – Early Tuesday morning, a Wilson County deputy while patrolling in the Mt. Juliet area, initiated a traffic stop due to a vehicle’s registration violation near Providence Marketplace.

The driver, Shaquile Devonte Finch, a 31-year-old male from Hermitage, was accompanied by a male passenger from Wilson County. Upon interaction, Deputy Brummett detected the odor of illegal narcotics emanating from the vehicle, prompting a probable cause search.

Deputies say Finch was in possession of substantial amounts of narcotics, including marijuana, cocaine, powder fentanyl, pressed fentanyl pills, and oxycodone pills. Additionally, Finch carried over $30,000 and a loaded 9mm handgun within easy reach. Through the roadside investigation, Deputy Brummett confirmed that all items belonged to Finch.

Finch was promptly arrested and now faces charges including two counts of Possession of Schedule II (Fentanyl) for Resale, Possession of Schedule II (Oxycodone) for Resale, Possession of Schedule II (Cocaine) for Resale, Simple Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The male passenger was released at the scene without charges.

“Deputy Cody Brummett’s swift actions exemplify our commitment to ensuring the safety of our community,” stated Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan. “This arrest underscores the importance of proactive policing in removing dangerous substances from our streets. We remain dedicated to upholding the law and preserving the well-being of Wilson County residents.”

The ongoing investigation will lead to Finch’s arraignment in the Wilson County General Sessions Court at a later date.
