Through a majority vote at the Wilson County Commission meeting last night, former Mt. Juliet mayor Kevin Mack was appointed to serve Zone 5 on the WCS Board of Education.
Following the commission’s final vote, which started with two other candidates, Mr. Mack was sworn in by Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto. He will immediately take over the Zone 5 seat.
This all stems from prior Zone 5 BOE member Mr. Donnie Self, who resigned from that seat last month.
With previous experience in public service, Mr. Mack was also a former STEM/CTE teacher at Green Hill High School during the 2022-2023 school year.
“Wilson County Schools is in fabulous shape and my goal is to step in, work with our current board, and help take this district to the next level,” said Mr. Mack. “I look forward to working with (Director of Schools) Mr. Luttrell in continuing to help make this one of the best districts in Tennessee.”
Under current guidelines, Mr. Mack will occupy the Zone 5 seat until the county’s next scheduled general election this coming August.
