Former Lebanon Mayor Don Fox passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at his residence surrounded by family. A dedicated public servant and community leader, Fox’s tenure as mayor spanned 15 years, during which he oversaw significant economic growth and infrastructure improvements in Lebanon.

Before his time in public office, Fox served in the U.S. Navy as a Second Class Petty Officer with Patrol Squadron Seven, specializing in aerial anti-submarine warfare. He later worked as Central Operations Manager for Middle Tennessee with South Central Bell, now AT&T. His commitment to the community extended beyond government service, as he was a longtime deacon at Maple Hill Church of Christ and a member of the Cumberland University Board of Trustees.

As mayor, Fox played a key role in major developments, including the creation of the Music City Star commuter rail, the expansion of roadways such as the I-40 South Hartmann interchange and the I-840 corridor, and the effort to bring Nashville Speedway to Wilson County. He also championed community projects like Don Fox Park, the Jimmy Floyd Family Center, and the preservation of Castle Heights Main as Lebanon’s City Hall.

“Mayor Don Fox’s administration brought us the park that bears his name, the transformation of Castle Heights into City Hall, the Hartmann Drive interchange, and countless other accomplishments. His impact on the City of Lebanon is immeasurable and will be felt for decades to come,” Current Lebanon Mayor Rick Bell said, reflecting on Fox’s enduring impact. “I have ordered all flags to be at half-staff until after Mayor Fox’s memorial service.”

The Lebanon Police Department also expressed condolences, with Chief Mike Justice acknowledging Fox’s leadership. “Mayor Fox was a strong leader who always prioritized the safety and security of our community during Lebanon’s exponential growth. He was a true patriot of our country, selflessly serving in the United States Navy. My prayers, along with the department’s, are with Mayor Fox’s loved ones and friends,” Justice said.

Fox’s legacy remains visible throughout Lebanon, in the roads, parks, and institutions he helped build and preserve. His dedication to the city and its people will be remembered for generations.
