Officer Ryan Edwards received a Letter of Recognition by LPD after assisting a woman in delivering her baby.

A police officer is being recognized after he assisted a woman in delivering her baby at her home in Lebanon.

On May 29, 2023, units were dispatched to a residence in Lebanon around 8 a.m. in reference to a woman in active labor in a bathtub. Officer Ryan Edwards responded without delay and arrived within two minutes of receiving the call. Once there, Officer Edwards did not hesitate to rush in and render aid to the mother.

He kept the mother and father calm until the infant was delivered. Once delivered, Officer Edwards retrieved the infant from the water, wrapped him in a towel, and held him until the Lebanon Fire Department arrived several minutes later.

Just moments earlier, Officer Edwards was on a traffic stop. Chief Mike Justice says his ability to switch gears and snap-in to his medical training is a testament to the type of officer he is. Though he has been with the department just short of one year, his actions that day were a terrific example of outstanding service and compassion, no matter the call.

Chief Justice says Officer Edwards is a credit to their department and just one example of all the great men and women at the Lebanon Police Department who serve our community every day.
