Looking for an adventure that gets you off the beaten path — literally underground? Cedars of Lebanon State Park is inviting explorers to join park staff for a Caving Adventure in Jackson Cave, a hands-on trek into one of the park’s only cave lakes, on July 25th from 2pm – 3pm.
This roughly hour-long guided tour takes visitors deep into a dark, wet cave filled with clay mud, so come prepared to get muddy from head to toe. Park staff recommend wearing old clothes you don’t mind staining, since the thick clay mud doesn’t wash out easily.
Before heading underground, all participants take part in a safety program to make sure everyone has the proper gear and understands key safety measures. The park provides helmets and headlamps, and a knowledgeable staff member familiar with the cave will guide the group throughout the tour.
What to Wear
Sturdy, secure shoes are a must. Sandals, flip-flops, Crocs, or similar footwear are not allowed, and anyone wearing them will not be permitted to enter the cave.
Age Requirements
This adventure is best suited for ages 10 and up. Families with younger children may want to try the park’s Hermit Cave Adventure instead, which offers a gentler introduction to caving.
