We have compiled a list of events in and near Wilson County honoring the anniversary of 9/11.

1. Music at the Mansion – 20th Anniversary Tribute to 9/11

Saturday, September 11, 6:30p.m.-9:30p.m.

Two Rivers Mansion

The Moonlighters Big Band will be providing the evening’s entertainment. The show is dedicated as a tribute to the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Local first responders will receive free admission to the show. The Moonlighters are a band of 20 members specializing in music from the era of swing. The group has been playing together for 25 years and do it strictly for fun. They are sure to provide a good time!

2. 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Ceremony

Schermerhorn Symphony Center

Mayor John Cooper, Nashville Fire Department Director Chief William Swann, NFD Command Staff, IAFF Local 140 Firefighter’s Union President Mark Young and other leaders will gather to honor first responders killed on 9/11/01. The event will begin with a Memorial Precession starting at 2nd and Commerce and will end at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The official ceremony will take place on the steps of the center.

 

3. American Heroes Concert

Join We are Building Lives for a night of good food, fun entertainment, and an amazing auction to raise funds to continue to help homeless veterans of Middle Tennessee. We are Building Lives has served almost 1000 veterans. Among them over 580 individuals, families and 226 children were homeless and were moved off the streets into permanent housing. Each ticket includes a concert, dinner, and a live and silent auction of

various and exciting items!

4. Field of Flags

Saturday, September 11, 8:00a.m.
584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN

The Alexander Funeral Home will be providing free brunch from 11:30a.m.-1:30p.m. to all first responder agencies. There will be a tribute video playing in the chapel and a chance for visitors and members of the community to pay their respects if they wish to do so. First responders can also receive the 20th Anniversary Coin.

5. Stones River National Cemetery 9/11 Day of Service

Saturday, September 11, 8:30a.m.-11:30a.m.
3501 Old Nashville Hway, Murfreesboro, TN

The Stones River Cemetery will be joining thousands of organizations across the nation in a day of remembrance and service to their community. Volunteers will be gathering to clean the headstones of some of America’s heroes. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 8:30a.m. A brief orientation will be given and sections assigned.

6. Murfreesboro 9/11 Heroes 5K Series Run

The Travis Manion Foundation is hosting its 9/11 Heroes Run. The annual run aims to unite communities with the goal of never forgetting the sacrifices of those made on September 11.
