In the early morning hours of January 9th, officers observed a male erratically walking around a business on South Cumberland Street.
Officers stopped to speak with man and quickly determined he was under the influence. After a brief struggle, the male was detained and charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and providing false identification.
Later that same day, officers responded to the Capitol Theatre on the square after management reported that someone threw a rock through a window display case that showcases upcoming shows.
Detectives responded to the scene and collected evidence, including security camera footage.
Through their investigation, detectives determined that the individual arrested on the morning of the 9th was the primary suspect in the Capitol Theatre vandalism.
38-year-old Adam Claxton has been additionally charged with vandalism for breaking a display case window at the Capitol Theatre.
