The City of Mt. Juliet is proud to announce that it has achieved the prestigious AAA rating from S&P Global Ratings, marking a significant milestone in the city’s financial history. This upgrade underscores the city’s steadfast commitment to sound financial management and strategic growth initiatives.

“We are incredibly proud to announce that Mt. Juliet has been upgraded to a AAA bond rating by S&P,” Mayor James Maness said. “This achievement makes us only the sixth city in Tennessee to earn this prestigious rating, reflecting our strong financial health and responsible management.”

For the past decade, Mt. Juliet has maintained an impressive AA+ rating from S&P. However, in collaboration with Sam Crewse, the city’s esteemed financial advisor, a compelling case was presented to elevate this rating to AAA. Following a thorough review process, S&P has officially recognized the city’s financial strength and stability with the highest possible rating.

“For years, we’ve been enacting policies that ensure we are the best stewards of taxpayer dollars, and this upgrade is evidence of the leadership of city staff, City Manager, Kenny Martin and each member of the Board of Commissioners,” Finance Director Dana Hire said. “It highlights the continued strength of Mt. Juliet’s economic environment and fiscal health. I am so proud to see Mt. Juliet achieve this AAA rating.”

Mt. Juliet now joins an elite group of only five other cities in Tennessee boasting S&P’s Triple A rating, including Brentwood, Franklin, Chattanooga, Bartlett, and Germantown. This achievement reflects the collective efforts of city leadership, staff, and the community at large.
