3Astronomy Night Under the Stars

Friday, November 14
6pm – 10pm
Cedars of Lebanon State Park
1417 W Main St, Lebanon

There will be a presentation at 7:00pm about the constellations, planets, galaxies, star clusters, and other objects visible that night. Viewing will begin afterward at 7:30pm and continue until midnight if stars are still visible. This is a special time of year when the summer constellations start to be visible. We will star hop and map constellations. We will also listen to the night sounds as we wait for the stars to appear.

Attendees should plan on bringing chairs and/or blankets to sit on. Please prepare for chilly nights after it gets dark. White light interferes with night vision, please bring a red flashlight or put red cellophane (park has limited supply) over your regular flashlight. Please make sure not to wear flashing lights, especially children’s shoes that flash. Feel free to bring your binoculars or telescope if you have them.

Guests will begin at the Nature Center and hike a short ways to an open field located behind the Nature Center over a bridge. Accessible Restrooms are located at the Nature Center on the back deck. Handicap parking is available at the location but visitors will be directed to parking by Park Ranger upon arrival. Please inform Park Ranger if this is needed when you arrive.

An all-terrain wheelchair(single) is also available upon request.

Weather Plan: In case of severe weather, event will be cancelled. If the cloud coverage is not going to allowed for decent visibility, event will turn into a night hike. Emails will go out by 4pm with updates.
