The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a rise in scam calls from individuals impersonating law enforcement officers. The callers are reportedly using real names of WCSO personnel, including Major David Bennett and Sgt. Travis Donnell, to make their claims sound legitimate.

The scammers have falsely told victims they missed jury duty, failed to pay a citation, missed a court appearance, have an active warrant, or have a family member who is incarcerated.

Officials emphasize these calls are fraudulent. The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office will never call to demand payment, request personal information, or threaten arrest. Anyone who receives such a call is urged not to share any information, hang up immediately, and report the incident by calling 615-444-1412 ext. 0.

Authorities are asking the community to help spread the warning to prevent others from becoming victims of these scams.
