Wilson County Schools will operate on a normal schedule Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, following improvements in road conditions after the recent winter storm.
District officials said sunshine and warmer temperatures Monday helped reduce hazardous conditions in many areas. However, some roads — particularly in eastern and southeastern parts of the county — are still considered unsafe for bus travel, especially during Tuesday morning routes.
As a result, portions of bus service will be suspended in specific locations. Roads identified as still hazardous for school buses include Rebel Road, North Greenhill Road, Speck Road, Center Hill Road, Phillips Road, Tracey Road, Turner Road, Rocky Branch Road, Clever Creek Road, Bloodworth, Upper Woods, Walleye Pike, Cedars of Lebanon, Hurricane Creek Road, Smith Hollow Road, and Patton Hollow Road.
Families along these routes will be notified of their bus status.
School leaders said families impacted by the changes may contact their school principal if travel conditions feel unsafe. Those absences will be considered school-related and excused. Officials also noted that other roads not listed may still have hazardous conditions and encouraged families to communicate concerns directly with their school.
District leaders thanked families for their patience and understanding as recovery continues from the major winter storm.
