Wilson County Schools Director Jeff Luttrell Announces Retirement

Leadership changes are ahead for Wilson County Schools as the district’s top administrator prepares to step down later this year.

Wilson County Schools announced that Director of Schools Jeff Luttrell will retire, with his final day set for June 30, 2026. The announcement was made during a Board of Education meeting.

Luttrell was named director in April 2021 and officially began serving in the role on July 1, 2021. During his tenure, the district maintained graduation rates above the state average and oversaw the development and construction of multiple new schools to support continued growth in Wilson County.

He has spent approximately 25 years with the district and more than 30 years in education overall. Throughout his career, Luttrell served as a teacher and coach before moving into administration. He was principal at Watertown High School for several years and also worked in the district’s Human Resources Department before becoming director.

District officials expressed appreciation for his leadership and service, noting his role in maintaining high academic performance across the system.
