Wilson County Schools and Lebanon Special School District will be closed on Tuesday, January 31st.
Wilson County Schools statement:
This is due to the threat of potential icing in some parts of the county through the overnight hours and into early tomorrow morning.
We understand that there are parts of the county that likely won’t experience any impacts, but our concerns are concentrated on the northern and northwestern parts of the county that could receive a light glaze as we move forward into Tuesday.
We are a unified school district and consider every area of the county when making these precautionary weather related closure decisions. Student and staff safety is a top priority within our district. In making this decision, we also realize that we have several staff members who commute from surrounding counties each school day. Some of those counties, especially to our north and west, could receive higher impacts. We don’t want to put anyone in a situation that presents a much higher risk.
At this point, Kids Club activities will open at 8:00 a.m., however if there are any additional updates to that plan, then families will receive that from a Kids Club staff member.
The ATC will remain open and all 12-month employees will report, but those staff members will communicate with their supervisors on any changes within their work day, if necessary.
We will provide an additional update tomorrow afternoon on the status of Wednesday, February 1st. The latest forecasts indicate the possibility of another round of icing for tomorrow night into Wednesday. We will monitor the latest forecasts and give additional updates in a timely manner so that you’re better prepared.
