In the most recent complaints, scammers have been calling citizens advising them that they have missed a federal court summons. They continue to use names of county employees, many times Wilson County Sheriff’s Office administration, after spoofing the number to appear on your phone as if the county office is calling.
Complainants have stated that during the phone call the scammers are asking them to go to CVS Pharmacy and deposit $2500-$3000 using a code into the kiosk.
It’s always important to remember not to give answers that confirm your identity. If someone calls you and starts asking personal questions or threatens you with arrest, please hang up immediately.
No law enforcement agency will ever call asking you to make payment by use of gift cards, cash apps, etc., to get out of a warrant or an investigation.
When in doubt, call Wilson County Sheriff’s Office main number to authenticate any call you may have received regarding a possible scam to our non-emergency line at 615-444-1412, ext. 0.
