Wilson County Schools announced that Dr. Jennifer Sharpe will become the head principal of Springdale Elementary beginning January 2026. Dr. Sharpe has been part of the school community as Assistant Principal since February 2023 and will succeed Mrs. Jennifer Yokom, who led the school for nearly three years before accepting a new position within the district.

“I have been incredibly proud and honored to work alongside Mrs. Yokom these past three years as her assistant principal,” said Dr. Sharpe. “Springdale is a remarkable school that was recently recognized as a Tennessee State Reward School.”

Dr. Sharpe brings more than 18 years of teaching experience across seven states, covering grades 1 through 5, shaped in part by her time as an Army spouse moving frequently across the country. She has been with Wilson County Schools for 10 years, starting as a reading intervention educational assistant at Rutland Elementary in 2015. She went on to teach first and fifth grades, served briefly as an instructional coach at West Elementary, and then became Assistant Principal at Springdale.

“We are thrilled to have her take this advanced leadership role,” said Director of Schools Jeff Luttrell. “She’s passionate about the success of students and teachers, and she knows the Springdale school community well. This is an excellent fit. We also wish Mrs. Yokom the best in her new position.”

Dr. Sharpe emphasized her commitment to building on the school’s success. “I am continuously inspired by our dedicated staff, who work tirelessly to put our students’ success and well-being at the center of every decision,” she said. “Being named as the next principal is a true honor. I feel blessed every day to be part of our Panther family, and I am very excited to continue our journey, focused on growth and striving for excellence together.”

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics, a master’s degree in Computers in Education, and an Educational Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Strategic Change from Lipscomb University.
